American Express Credit Card

In American, any one who lives there and has access to a television could not miss knowing about the American Express credit card. I mean, nearly every hour on the hour, almost every channel has an American Express credit card ad. The "don't leave home without it" tagline is what really made the American Express credit card advertisements that much more memorable. This is the tagline, I must confess, that made me go in and sign up for my first American Express credit card. I promptly went online after seeing one more of those seemingly never ending commercials, logged on to the American Express credit card website and submitted my application.

American Express - Not for the Faint of Heart!

A few days later, you can imagine my join when I received.you guessed it! A package containing my very own American Express credit card; I had never felt so privileged. A slew of offers also came with my American Express credit card and such seeming attractive packages. I was promised, for one thing, by my American Express credit card to have the widest possible coverage and the acceptance all over the world at millions of establishments. Another thing that came with it was an incredible balance transfer facility. This meant that I could transfer some of my not so popular credit cards' debts on to this one. I had also applied for my wife and my college son to be added on, and they received supplementary cards at no additional charge. Some of the finest establishments in the city also included various gift vouchers and coupons. To say that I was overjoyed would be a gross simplification. My joy was to be short lived, but little did I know that then!

For one thing, with the sudden bonus of having an American Express credit card, my wife and especially my kid made the most of it. I was often stumped, since I was the main card holder, of the inexplicable bills at the various malls and pizza parlors. While the former can be attributed to my wife, thanks to the new freedom that the American Express credit card had given him, my son had been treating his friends to 'free' meals at the pizza parlors, even though this was just an add-on card. On top of that, I had transferred all of my balances to the new American Express credit card without realizing that I would only have six months of the preferential rate of interest. It didn't take too long before my American Express credit card was maxed out as well. The debts had only become more unmanageable as they had gotten bigger.

Don't Leave Home With It

I had enough of the American Express credit card and was ready to give it up on it within a year. However, even more people were being induced to sign up for the American Express credit card as its advertisements on the television continued. Now I feel that it is high time they changed the tagline from "Don't leave home without it." I suggest they make it, "Don't leave home." Period!
